Mike Palmer was in NYC this week so I made the trip to meet up with him for our very own photo walk around the city.  We intended to take a class at B&H Photo but when we got there we decided to “ditch class” (Shssssh!  Don’t tell Mom I skipped school!) and instead we shop around B&H.  I had to control myself from walking out with a new lens and instead settled for a very small purchase of an SD card holder. 

We did a lot of sightseeing, stopped in Times Square and had lunch at Hard Rock, then headed over to the International Center for Photography for the Avedon Fashion Photography exhibit (amazing work!).  We ended the day wandering around Central Park.  Despite the sweltering heat I had a great time!!  Thanks Mike!

I edited all of the photos from today but I’m going to break up the posts throughout the week while I’m busy moving out, moving in and unpacking.  After tomorrow I won’t have internet until Saturday (if I even have my computer set up by then!)  Then Monday I’m off to NC so I’ll be pre-setting up some blog posts of our visit to NYC so stop back for more!

And a good ‘ol cell phone pic!  (Just ignore my sweaty red face…it felt like it was 110 degrees!!)

It’s very unlike me to NOT have a blog post almost everyday so I thought I’d give a little update on what’s new.

The reason you’re accessing the blog through the WordPress.com address is that—-> COMING SOON to Jen Rinaldi Photography is a new FRESH FACE for the blog!  I’ve been working very hard on it and I’m very excited for the unveiling – SOON!

I’m moving this week into a new home so things will be quiet on my end for a bit as I disconnect my computer & pack up my things and head out!

It’s been a really long couple years for me and I’m happy to finally be moving on to better things!

HOME SWEET HOME!

Sadly, my last day at my Full Time job at Johnson & Johnson was this Friday.  I was at my operating company almost 8 years with almost 10 years of service in total.  It was really hard to leave but since I didn’t have a choice I just have to roll with it!  Unemployment here I come!! It gives me time to work more on my photography, take a little break from life, and then pound the pavement looking for my new career choice!

I’m going to miss all of the amazing friends I made over the years. 

After I move this week I will be taking some time to head to North Carolina and enjoy a little time off from the “working world.”  I can’t wait to go and enjoy some of my new found time off!

I’m still working diligently, every spare moment I have, on all of the sessions I have that are unfinished!

I also have some session that are completed that I haven’t been able to share with you on the blog yet.

Bobby Vans Steakhouse for WCBS TV NY | New Jersey & New York Freelance Commercial Photographer July 22, 2009

On Monday, July 6th, I was given an awesome photography opportunity unlike any other I’ve done so far!

I was asked to photograph interiors and various food set-ups of Bobby Vans Steakhouse at 25 Broad Street in New York City for WCBS-TV NY.  The photos were taken to be featured in an upcoming television commercial on WCBS-TV NY!

I haven’t edited the food set-ups yet, but once I do I will share them here in a separate blog post. If the commercial is successfully created and airs I will definitely share it on my blog with you all as well.

This opportunity was made possible by my friend Lee who works for WCBS-TV.   Thank you so much Lee!

*Bobby Van’s Steakhouse and Grill located across from the New York Stock Exchange uses the original 1898 structure to create lush and evocative dining rooms filled with dark wood, cream-colored walls and beautiful chandeliers.

Pass through the glass entrance of the steakhouse into the grand dining room with 20′ ceilings to face a gorgeous 20-foot bar and a floor-to-ceiling wall of wine and liquor.

Dine under the soft lighting of the grand chandeliers and enjoy succulent 28-day dry-aged prime steaks and the freshest seafood.

The Vault Grill on the lower level was once J.P. Morgan & Co.’s original bank vault, which was installed by Remington & Sherman Co. in 1902

The Vault Bar’s elongated room is lined with vault doors, two of which showcase Bobby Van’s extensive Wine Vault. The 22-foot wood paneled bar boasts a large selection of spirits which you can also enjoy at one of the rich tapestry-covered banquettes.

In the center of the room is the impressive six-foot circular main vault door which opens into The Vault. The walls are lined with the original antique deposit boxes that lend a rich bronze hue to the room. The dark wood accents, mirrored pillars and classic lighting transport you to another time when JP Morgan and John D Rockefeller ruled Manhattan.

You can’t help but love this sweet little one with the stunning blue eyes.  She has grown so much since I last photographed her in October!  She’s the cutest little model to work with who had the cutest little expressions.  She’s going to be a big sister at the end of the month and I can’t wait to meet her little brother.

This little angel “A” belongs to my oldest friend who I’ve known since pre-school.  She was so sweet and tiny and such a joy to work with.  She slept perfectly through the formal photos, just as I had hoped.  I loved her cute little lips and her little wrinkles on her back!  So sweet!!!

It’s hard to believe that a friend that I’ve known since I was only a couple years old now has a lil girl who is the same age we were when we met AND a new baby under a month old.  I’m so honored to be able to capture their lives as they grow through the years.

This session was also the debut of the first blanket my mom knitted for me for my sessions with newborns & babies.  It’s so beautiful & soft!  Thanks Mom!

Oh, and can you tell we were having fun with the hats (even if they were too big!!)? *lol*

Oh this lil guy steals my heart!  Look at those big blue eyes and that lil personality that shines in person and in his photos!

I was there to photograph his new baby sister but I couldn’t resist sneaking photo after photo of him.

I told him that he was my photo assistant and made him test my lighting, wear one of my mom’s winter hat creations, and I let him make lots of funny faces for me!

I couldn’t have asked for more than my two favorite things:  Family portrait shoots and an amazing location like Princeton University to take the photos.

With it’s amazing architecture, rich with history, Princeton University made for a perfect unique backdrop for family portraits on this lovely May day!

Oh, The Little Yawns! | New Jersey Newborn Photographer July 5, 2009

I LOVED this session.  She was such a sweet little doll!

She was so tiny and adorable and she slept almost the entire time.
