Love Is Just a Word Until Someone Comes Along and Gives it Meaning April 14, 2009

I met with Katy & Geoff back in March for a Couples Lifestyle Portrait Session.

Katy and I work for the same company and the portrait session was a surprise for Geoff for his birthday although he admitted that he figured out what Katy was up to on the way to park.

We met at Duke Island Park and although it was a chilly, overcast, March day you wouldn’t know it by looking at the photos of Katy & Geoff.  As cliché as it sounds they warmed up the park with their love for each other and it made me so happy for them.  I’m jealous…I want a session like this done for me!  They were so easy to direct for this session and I hardly had to tell them what to do!

I picked my top 20 photos from the session.  It’s a set of photos I’m really, really proud of (not that I’m not proud of all of my work!!).  The editing of this session really flowed for me and I love the processing I went with on some many of them.

Meet the Lawsons January 21, 2009

Meet The Lawsons.

Sweetest family in all of Indiana!

Most of you know Julie Lawson of Julie Lawson Photography..now meet her hubby Doug and daughter’s Brianna and Emmalie (you probably remember Bri & Emmy from my Indy blog posts if you haven’t spent time on Julie’s blog yet).

When I was in Indiana Julie asked me to take formal portraits of her family.

I was totally honored to do so and this is the one that Julie chose to hang in her home:

Julie had a specific idea for this shot.  I don’t think we achieved her vision but I still love the idea of it.

And one for the outtakes!

I love that little Emmy is making like she is eating her toe…and I can still hear Doug’s laugh ringing through my ears!

While I was in Indy I also did a shoot with Julie’s niece Kayla for Senior portraits (which you’ve seen a sneak peek of) as well as of Kayla’s sister Brittany. shown below.  Look at those gorgeous eyes!

I think I have more from this shoot to edit that I hope to get to one day…soon…

Julie of The Milo December 9, 2008

“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”

Below are the photos that I referenced 2 blog posts ago of my lovely, beautiful, talented friend Julie of Julie Lawson Photography.  I took some studio photos of Julie but I LOVED these shots in the Milo field across from her house so much that I didn’t wait to wait to post them until I had the others done.  The photos have such a beautiful feel to them – which was easy to capture because they are of a beautiful person.

It’s so great to meet someone you never met before and hit it off so well.  I never one felt like I didn’t belong and I will always treasure my first visit to Indiana (and I’m sure there will be many more visits in time).

I miss Julie and her family already.  It’s so funny how in only 5 days I could feel like part of someone’s family and their daily routine.  At times I joked with her kids and said “you have 2 mom’s this week!”  This is one special girl with a special family and I love our friendship dearly!

It’s funny how people enter into our lives and the impact the leave on us…

“Just Julie” December 4, 2008

It broke my heart to leave Julie & her family today.  Lots of sad faces all around. I’m going to miss her family so much.  If only we were closer in distance…I’d be over all the time…I know that for a fact!

I’m going to be sharing more from my visit as I get them edited so be prepared for Julie-and-Indiana-fest for a little while!
