Mike Palmer was in NYC this week so I made the trip to meet up with him for our very own photo walk around the city.  We intended to take a class at B&H Photo but when we got there we decided to “ditch class” (Shssssh!  Don’t tell Mom I skipped school!) and instead we shop around B&H.  I had to control myself from walking out with a new lens and instead settled for a very small purchase of an SD card holder.  🙂

We did a lot of sightseeing, stopped in Times Square and had lunch at Hard Rock, then headed over to the International Center for Photography for the Avedon Fashion Photography exhibit (amazing work!).  We ended the day wandering around Central Park.  Despite the sweltering heat I had a great time!!  Thanks Mike!

I edited all of the photos from today but I’m going to break up the posts throughout the week while I’m busy moving out, moving in and unpacking.  After tomorrow I won’t have internet until Saturday (if I even have my computer set up by then!)  Then Monday I’m off to NC so I’ll be pre-setting up some blog posts of our visit to NYC so stop back for more!

And a good ‘ol cell phone pic!  (Just ignore my sweaty red face…it felt like it was 110 degrees!!)

“Just Jack” | New Jersey Children’s Photographer July 8, 2009

Oh this lil guy steals my heart!  Look at those big blue eyes and that lil personality that shines in person and in his photos!

I was there to photograph his new baby sister but I couldn’t resist sneaking photo after photo of him.

I told him that he was my photo assistant and made him test my lighting, wear one of my mom’s winter hat creations, and I let him make lots of funny faces for me!

Used and HDR-esque look on the next 3 photos:

Giving baby sister a sweet kiss on the head…aww!

Modeling the hats!

The glazed-over-TV-face!

And reading his book.  Love seeing children in a curious fashion!

Mischevious….

…and the funny faces!

Texture Gives It a Different Feel | New Jersey Landscape Photographer June 28, 2009

Most of you probably know how much I love texture…

With that being said I couldn’t resist trying texture on these two photos from the Red Mill series.  I think it adds a whole other dimension to the photos.

The “P Family” at Thompson Park | Central NJ Family Portrait Photographer June 23, 2009

This family of 6 was a really fantastic session for me.  I’ve known Dad, Joey, since grammar school and I hadn’t seen him in ten years since our 10 year grammar school reunion.

Joey’s wife Erica and I connected over Facebook and when she saw I was a photographer she asked me to do a session with her and her family and I was thrilled to.  Getting to meet their wonderful family was a great and we had such a wonderful session!  With Chris assisting me on the shoot that day – I ended up with the most wonderful set of family photos that I think the family will treasure for all time.

If you remember I featured an HDR-inspired photo of Lil Man “D” on the blog a while back as a teaser:  https://jenrinaldiphotography.wordpress.com/2009/05/21/lil-man-d-and-the-p-family-sneak-peek/

I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites because with 6 family members I got such a variety of “mini sessions” within the session.  I hope you love them as much as I do and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on what I’ve shared.

Each photo can be enlarged by clicking on them.  Please do so – so that you don’t miss the details!  🙂
