Love Is Just a Word Until Someone Comes Along and Gives it Meaning April 14, 2009

I met with Katy & Geoff back in March for a Couples Lifestyle Portrait Session.

Katy and I work for the same company and the portrait session was a surprise for Geoff for his birthday although he admitted that he figured out what Katy was up to on the way to park. 🙂

We met at Duke Island Park and although it was a chilly, overcast, March day you wouldn’t know it by looking at the photos of Katy & Geoff.  As cliché as it sounds they warmed up the park with their love for each other and it made me so happy for them.  I’m jealous…I want a session like this done for me!  They were so easy to direct for this session and I hardly had to tell them what to do!

I picked my top 20 photos from the session.  It’s a set of photos I’m really, really proud of (not that I’m not proud of all of my work!!).  The editing of this session really flowed for me and I love the processing I went with on some many of them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Send Love & Cheer With Custom Made Post Cards November 20, 2008

I started a new gallery on my website, a few months back, with the intention of featuring my photos along with the addition of quotes that inspire or move me, to be sold as Post Cards.

I’ve been so busy with other photography work that I haven’t had time to make as many as I’d like to and I haven’t been able to feature this new addition to my website until now.

The post cards will be featured in THIS GALLERY.  So far I have 5 designs available and I hope to have time to create and add additional cards during the winter months – when things quiet down a little for me.

Cost: $5.99 each plus shipping.

The 4×6 Post Cards are printed using HP Indigo 5000 digital offset presses on heavy card stock. On the image side, there is a glossy, UV and water resistant coating. The back side is a standard template with address and stamp areas.  It’s a popular gift with excellent color reproduction!

“The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing” October 7, 2008

You’ve seen the sneak peeks and I just finished the entire session tonight!  I am so excited to share the gallery with the family and I hope they love them!

Below are my favorites from the entire session so buckle up and take a look. Once you’ve gotten through them all Let me know what you think! 🙂

Mom and Dad’s rings:

I love the intertwining of Mom and Dad’s hands…

This crib was handmade by Craig’s Grandfather and the blanket was made by Stephanie’s Grandmother so it was wonderful to be able to incorporate them into the session.

The Truest Friend We Have September 29, 2008

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington

Shed A Tear…First Dance July 7, 2008

I don’t think I’ve ever shed a tear over one of my own photos but when I saw this particular photo of Tara and Adam last night something about it made me well up a little.

And the truth about the photo is that the flash didn’t fire when I took it (it was tired at that point and needed a little nap).

Being resourceful, I decided I would lighten the heck out of the curves in photoshop and see what I could do to make it usable.  After I lightened it I converted it to B&W and added a ton of grain!  Tim Gunn from Project Runway would say “make it work” so I “made it work.”

To get a better idea of what the photo really looks like click HERE to see a really large version.

There were so many more great moments in the over 1400 photos that I took but for some reason in today’s blog post I’m focused all on the first dance.  I guess it’s the emotion I was able to see and feel from the couple that makes me want to highlight the photos.

I love how his hand is on her back..

And a little texture…

I love how Adam looks at Tara here…

…and how they look at each other here:

And I did a little bit of a film looking effect for this (SX-70)

A “tea stained” look for this one:

And this is to die for…it was like they were alone in a room full of strangers…

…and a similar moment to the one above with texture:

As the dance ended…

What a moment…what a couple!
